VINCENTIAN MARIAN YOUTH GREECE
together in FAITH, together in HOPE, together in LOVE for Christ!
EXECUTIVE YOUTH COUNCIL OFFICERS 2022-2025
IVY BLAISE PALOPE
VMY GREECE PRESIDENT
My name is Ivy Blaise Palope and I was elected as the President of VMY GREECE.
I’ve been in the Vincentian community since I was seven and I’m currently twenty one years of age, studying International Relations and Management with an Emphasis in Human Resources. I am truly grateful for VMY as it did not only help me grow in faith but also guided me to follow a path I never knew I’d take.
I used to be the type of person who would question the ways of life and why everything is the way it is but questioning life means questioning God and his ways; therefore, I just decided to put my trust in him. I firmly believed that:
“God’s Plan is Greater Than Mine; hence, I put my Trust in Him”
God works in mysterious ways, but I put my trust in him as his plans for me are greater than mine. We may question his ways as we do not seem to understand them at times, yet one thing is for sure, in the end, it will all be worth it. However, in today’s generation, where most have the “to see is to believe” type of mindset, I did face some challenges walking my journey of faith. Despite the bumpy road, I know deep inside that God wouldn’t be putting us through all these challenges if he knew we couldn’t make it. Therefore, I’m grateful for I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it wasn’t for his guidance
CRISALYN SERQUIÑA
VMY GREECE VICE-PRESIDENT
I am Crisalyn Serquiña, voted as the Vice President of the Vincentian Marian Youth of Greece.
I have been part of the VMY family since the year 2014 and have served as a lector, organist and guitarist during the Holy Liturgy for as long as I have been in this community. I am twenty years of age and currently majoring in Tourism Management.
Having been elected as the vice president, I vow to lead the group in a united way with honesty and carry out my duties to strengthen the bond of our group.
"I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
This specific bible verse helped me gain strength and lifted my spirits up in times of despair. When I found myself drifting away from the presence of God, these words alone made me realize that it is with his guidance will I be able to move forward, do good things and praise His glory.
With this in mind, I aspire to become a person who is helpful and kind; thoughtful and compassionate; someone who learns from her mistakes and doesn't let her shortcomings affect nor her or the group. I firmly believe it requires lots of patience and endurance, responsibility and trust from my peers but I am willing to work hard so as to listen to everyone’s opinions and bring new ideas and perspectives to the group.
CATHERINE BINIBINI
VMY GREECE SECRETARY
My name is Catherine Binibini and I have been elected as the secretary of VMY Greece. I have been a member of VMY Greece since the beginning, marking 13 years this upcoming October.
I have learned and experienced a lot of insightful happenings during this time that helped me a lot improve myself and my relationship with God.
By taking on the role of the secretary, my goal is to strengthen the structure of our group and promote organization to further help the members input God's teaching in our lives. I will also coordinate with the rest of our Catholic family to increase our group's exposure by helping and participating in activities that will help us enlarge our understanding of God's plan.
"Leave the past in God's mercy, live the the future with trust in God and live today in God's providence."
After going through a very stressful period at work, I began doubting my attitude if being kind was not enough to the people around me. Therefore, I reached out to God and attended a mass at a parish I don’t usually visit, and the priest said this quote at the end and it just stuck with me. It made me realise that I shouldn't put my mental health at risk by stressing about it and just leave everything to God as he planned
JULIA MENESES
VMY GREECE TREASURER
My name is Julia Meneses, and I have been a member of VMY Greece for over 10 years now. A few months back, I was elected as the Treasurer for the council of VMY Greece.
As the treasurer of the group, there are a number of things that I would want to achieve in terms of managing the group's financials. However, I will mostly focus on keeping track of the funds we are able to collect and of those we spend. Together with the council we will work on different ways so as to raise funds and spend them according to our needs and the needs of the people around us of which could benefit the both.
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”
Just like every Vincentian, our mission is to serve others, but most especially the poor. As the treasurer of the group, there are a number of things that I would want to achieve in terms of giving. I will admit that it will be a challenge for us to gather funds, however, together with the council and the members, I am optimistic that we will find ways to raise funds or even find other ways to share our blessings with others especially to those in need.
