*These participants did not advance for the final Q&A segment.
After the announcement, a few minutes of break was integrated once again to prepare the finalists for the second Q&A segment. The way that the inquiry works this time was that all the remaining candidates were asked the same question individually. The microphones were turned off while one contender answers the question standing directly in front of the judges, and his or her fellow competitors were placed as far away as possible from him or her in order for them not to hear the question being asked and answer being given by the candidate. This method was executed for each of the participants, which deemed to be successful. When the judges had their final evaluations, it was time for the awarding ceremony. But before the announcement of the winners, the hosts introduced the presenters of the awards to be given to the candidates. Six core team leaders were divided into three pairs to hand over the accolades to the participants, in accordance with their respective titles.
The names of the presenters for the awarding ceremony are as follows:
2nd Runner-Up Male: Luigi Hernandez
2nd Runner-Up Female: Angelika Buddhadasa
1st Runner-Up Male: Jerry Gupo
1st Runner-Up Female: Athena Grace Garcia
Mr. VMY Greece: Brian Buddhadasa
Ms. VMY Greece: Mary Catherine Binibini
The presenters were then asked to do a runway catwalk in their formal clothing. When everyone was through, it was finally time for the announcement of the winners, which is possibly the most anticipated part of the entire festivity itself. Everybody in the audience was on the edge of their seats, waiting for the results. Of course, everyone had their picks on who would win, but of course, in the end, it is up the judges who does.
In order to build up the hype even further, the candidates who received the titles as 2nd Runner-Ups were revealed first, and their names are as follows:
2nd Runner-Up Male: Christian Hydrick Cusi (Team Compassion), garnering a total average of 8.0 points from the judges.
2nd Runner-Up Female: Mary Ann May Oliha (Team Hope), acquiring a total average of 7.5 points from the judges.
Their respective presenters awarded them both with sashes and trophies, as well as a tiara for the female runner-up.
What occurred next was the moment that everyone had been waiting for since the beginning of the event itself. It was finally time to reveal who among these contestants will hold the titles of ‘MR. and MS. VMY Greece 2016’ respectively, as everybody in the room cheered for their corresponding bets. And then finally, the proclamation of winners came.
Team JOY’s male candidate Noel John Nichola Gacusan garnered a total average of 8.75 points, granting him his title as the Male 1st Runner-Up, this means that Team HOPE’s candidate, Ivan Dominique Manalang was declared as the victor, earning his rightful title as MR. VMY GREECE 2016, after garnering a total average of 8.83 points!
Meanwhile, Team MISSION’s female candidate, Maria Margie De Leon, has earned a total average of 8.22 points, proclaiming her as the Female 1st Runner-Up of the competition. Team JOY’s candidate, Maria Erica Molina has earned a total average of 8.52 points from the judges themselves, and was automatically crowned as MS. VMY GREECE 2016!
Once again, their respective presenters awarded them all with sashes and trophies, as well as a tiara for the Female 1st Runner-Up and a crown for the glorious victor, Ms. VMY.
The joy felt by these victors were spread across the entire room, as everyone in audience cheered them on continuously, constantly congratulating them for their triumph. The non-winning contestants themselves showed their sportsmanship by applauding their victorious competitors. Despite their respective rankings their weeks of hard work eventually paid off, that is why everyone else too, is triumphant in every way possible. They had exposed their incredible talents to everyone, showed everybody how comfortable they are with their own skin, and most importantly, they expressed themselves confidently in speaking their minds. Their willingness to participate in such affair made every member of the group proud of them, for their courage, enthusiasm, and their devotion in order to make the event as successful as it was. Speaking of a productive festivity, it wouldn’t have been as prosperous as it was if it wasn’t for team effort exerted by the entire VMY team, implicating that working altogether is the best way to accomplish anything. Our endeavors have strengthen our bond with one another, and turned us into a family, a family that will live on for many more years to come, as long as we’re there for each other.
Long live the Vincentian-Marian Youth Greece, and may God bless us all.
