“TOGETHER BE SEEN”: VMY GREECE celebrates 13 years of founding

by Ivy Blaise Palope

DISCUSSION

On the 28th of October, VMY Greece celebrated its 13th Anniversary with the theme "Together Be Seen". In a divisive age, many of us struggle to achieve a sense of belongingness. It’s either we are too caught up in our many differences or tend to be around the wrong people or some our just simply lost. Therefore, during the last Sunday of October, in our monthly sessions, we delved into the importance of togetherness.

As our anniversary theme was “Together Be Seen” we ought to believe that togetherness is essential for our faith to grow. There are times when one may feel alone; however, God never intended us to live alone or to be alone. From the beginning of creation, God created Adam and Eve for alone was never the plan. As it said, “no man is an island”, we human beings are social beings that have the need to socialize and belong somewhere. Therefore, communities play a vital role because as Christ followers, being part of the community, and being part of VMY means having meaningful relationships where we do life together by sharing, encouraging, serving, forgiving, and chasing faithfully after God.

Togetherness is about love because as Jesus said, one of the most important commandments are to love God and love your neighbors. In addition, Togetherness is about forgiveness because to be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you. Yet why do we often find it so hard to love and forgive?

THE WORLD MISSIONARY ROSARY

In every anniversary, we made it tradition to pray the world missionary rosary introduced by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. As it is a wonderful way to relate to the world around us and gain an understanding of what it means to belong to the Universal Church.

PRESENTATIONS

Finally, to celebrate our 13th Anniversary, we had each group prepare a special performance.
